Meet Richard
Richard is one of the founding Partners at Avyse. His motivation for starting his own business was about being able to challenge the status quo - whether that was how consulting works, or the implementation of arbitrary processes because “that’s what we’ve always done”.
He has extensive in-house and consulting experience, spanning over 20 years.
He is particularly interested in the human side of compliance: how incentives or disincentives work, culture and the unintended consequences of internal rules.
Illustrative experience:
Skilled person work: Richard has been skilled person / QA Partner on a vast range of section 166 reviews. The importance of these reviews to firms, and to Avyse Partners, makes this some of the most interesting, intellectually challenging and rewarding work we do.
Trusted Advisory partner: Richard is in his element working as an independent advisor to senior business and compliance management. Commonly this will be during extended periods of regulatory pressure (such as when a firm is under a section 166).
Global travel: Richard has been lucky enough to provide on the ground advisory services around the globe. This has provided him with broad insights and experiences.
Whilst work takes up a lot of his life, his purpose centres around his daughter Joanna and wife Jen. Living in the mid-Sussex countryside means lots of time spent outside at weekends in the South Downs, exploring local vineyards or on the Sussex coast.
There isn’t loads of time left for hobbies, but a lifelong following of Manchester United is hard to shake.
His surname is tricky, inherited from a Polish grandfather, it is pronounced more like “Vengine”, although a native speaker would probably not understand it said that way.
